ADA Fishing Pier

Pullen Pier

May contain: water, waterfront, pier, nature, outdoors, scenery, sea, lake, and bridge

The Port of Bandon has constructed an ADA fishing pier along the western side of the Bandon marina Riverwalk/breakwater. The project will be a public fishing pier adjacent to the boardwalk with a design to provide people of all ages and abilities a safe place to catch marine fish from the shore. Currently there is limited availability of shore accessible fishing along the lower Coquille River.

Main objectives with this project include:

1. Construct a safe accessible fixed fishing platform for public use designed to accommodate and meet ADA requirements.

2. Construct a pier in a manner and with materials safe for the environment, using ODFW, DEQ, and NOAA Fisheries best management practices.

3. Plan and develop interpretive signage for the placement on the pier and walkway with information of the fisheries ecology of the Coquille River estuary and reef.

This project will provide opportunities to those who wish to fish but do not have access to boats. Although this is an access project rather than a fish enhancement project, it does present opportunities to educate people as to the results of a healthy watershed.
