The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as part of their workplan, has contracted Bergerson Construction, Inc to dredge the federal navigation channel in the Port of Bandon marina. In addition, the Port of Bandon subcontracted Bergerson to extend the work area to cover a high spot located just outside the navigational channel posing danger to vessels with a high draft during low tides. Bergerson is contracted to remove sediment that has been building since 2005. The project is slated for the next 2 weeks and mobilization begins January 12, 2021. Removal of sediment will be by cutter head / suction pipe that will be deposited in the flowlane in the Coquille River on an outgoing tide.
